Classroom Expectations/Math 3 Unit Structure

Ms. Taylor’s Classroom Expectations and Procedures
Daily Materials
v  1-inch binder with at least 10 clear inserts
v  Homework
v  Pencil
v  Manual Pencil Sharpener with Catcher

Before the bell:
v  Sharpen your pencil if necessary
v  Take out and/or turn in homework
v  Begin working on opening assignment (Warm Up or Bell Ringer)
v  Put away all electronics (cell phones, ipods, headphones, gaming systems, etc.)

During class:
v  Give the teacher your undivided attention
v  Actively participate by taking notes, asking and answering questions
v  Obey any school rules and follow the Guilford County School’s Student Code of Conduct
v  Respect the property of T. Wingate Andrews High School and Ms. Taylor

At the end of class:
v  Complete the closing activity (Bell Ringer or Ticket Out the Door)
v  Put away calculators
v  Write down any homework assignments and begin working
v  Remain in your seat until dismissed by the teacher, not the bell

Assignments:
v  Assignments must be completed in pencil. Any work submitted in pen will not be accepted
v  All work must be shown on assignments or it will not be graded.




v  Label all assignments with:

Grading Procedures:
v  You will be graded using the following system:
·         Classwork/Homework                                   20%
·         Quizzes                                                           30%
·         Test                                                                 50%
                       
Tutorial:
v  Tutorial is available Wednesday after school 4pm – 5pm to all students who are at risk of failing, review of content, and content missed due to absences. If not with me, then with another math instructor.

Grading Scale:
            A    90 – 100   B    80 – 89     C     70 – 79     D    60 – 69     F    59 and below

Consequences for not meeting classroom expectations:
v  Verbal Reminder
v  Student / Teacher conference (outside the classroom or after class)
v  In-teaming / Parent Contact (phone, email or face to face)
v  Administrative Referral
Absences:
v  Please be aware of the attendance policy
v  It is your responsibility to get and make up any missing assignments and to have them turned in timely.
v  Make-up work should be turned in within three days.
v  Label any make-up work with make-up work on the front of the assignment.

Remember:
v  Attitude determines Altitude!
v  Always do your best!
v  Come to class with an open mind and prepared to learn!
v  if you have any concerns, communicate them with me at the start of class
v  Ask questions in class and get help as soon as you start having trouble!
