Unit: Circles & Trig

So, were done with Geometry!!! Yay!!!
We’re going to head into the Circles and Trigonometry unit next….this unit can be a little difficult, so I will try to link every resource I can find to help you through it.
Fortunately, A LOT of the instructional videos will come from KhanAcademy…..(that’s my uncle website, remember?!)
The following are instructional videos that I know will help and show you everything will discuss in class.

Link to KhanAcademy (Conic)
Videos to watch and do by February 18, 2016 AND USE THE HINTS IF NEEDED!
·      The Features of a circle
o  Graph a circle according to its features
o  Find the features of a circle from its graph
·      Standard equation of a circle
o  How to find the center and radius of a circle from its standard equation (example)
o  Find the features of a circle from its standard equation
o  Graph a circle from its standard equation
o  Write the equation of a circle
UMMM YEAH, DO EXPANDED EQUATION OF A CIRCLE VIDEOS TOO!!!! THAT'S ACTUALLY WHAT YOU REALLY NEED!!!!!
If you need a little assistance with the above, use this link as a refresher:
Intro to Circles!!!!!!!!
I HIGHLY recommend taking notes on the videos and you MUST do at least 3 (THREE) examples per example tutorial.  Because of the recent snow days, we have to push through quickly, so let’s stay on topic and focus…and take responsibility for your learning, too.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to the T. Wingate High School, home of the Mighty Red Raiders. My name is Ms. Taylor and it is a pleasure to be teaching your child this year.

I have planned an exciting set of activities to aid your child in becoming a master of the math curriculum. During the school year, we will be using various hands-on activities, projects and computer software to supplement and enhance the learning experience. Before we can successfully educate your child; there will need to be a partnership between parents, teachers and the student. So I will be calling on you to aid me in this journey with your child.

With this in mind, here are some of the things your child will need to be successful in math this year:
v  His or her self-determination to learn and succeed
v  Your support
v  Graphing Calculator (to be used at home)
v  Highlighters
v  (1) 1-inch binder with at least 10 clear inserts

If you ever have any questions concerning your child, feel free to contact me at the above phone number or email address. Please remember that early intervention is the best approach. Tutorial will be offered after school. I encourage you to send your child to tutorial often to enhance material presented in class.

To make this adventure excellent, I have attached a Question/Comment area for your input.  This area can include preferred seating for your child, preferred method of contact, or any advice on helping your child succeed in this course.  Feel free to include an email or phone number for receipt that I received your request.

I look forward to working with both you and your child as we take this journey together.

Sincerely,

Ms. Taylor

Introduction

Hi guys,

Welcome to a new semester!
This will be your central location for Spring 2016 Common Core Math 3 lectures/notes, classroom documents, reminders, and Math 3 resources.

I will post lecture videos for your viewing BEFORE CLASS and require notes and examples to be completed before class.  Also, you will see your homework posted as a reminder.  If you ever have an issue with the video playing, please email me at taylorl@gcsnc.com.

Please be sure to watch the entire video and be prepared for class the next day.
